Photopoetry

After a session with the poets of the piedmont, gathered in Taste Full Beans last night, I walked to my car parked in front of the Carolina Theater.  It was a cloudy, cool evening and the light was fading quickly.

But tricks were being played out there too, which only the light can do and it is at it’s best when you aren’t really paying attention.  Suddenly I saw it. “Stop!” I shouted, “Stop! - Let me focus!”

pulled my camera out and quickly made setting changes then I shot and shot and shot and then - it was over.  Gone. Good things flash before they go.  Then they go.

The night changed.  Now it was dark.  Spirits came out.  I only work with demons that can be seen, so I went home.  But magic had happened.  Not entirely unlike poetry.
